We Got Folk Queen Irene Skylakaki To Record A Stripped-Back Selfie Session From A Greek Garden

It’s once again time for another fabulous Selfie Session

We’ve got a confession to make: we’re not the philosophical types here at one on one HQ. We’re more generally categorisable as ‘drinkers’ than ‘thinkers’, and our deep-and-meaningful conversations about the wonders of love, life, and lustful thinking are generally resigned to a) being hosted down our local pub, and b) revolving around arguments over precisely which Eighties power-ballad is, objectively, ‘the best’. (Hint: it’s this one).

We do realise, though, that not all of you are blessed with the same nonchalance as we are. Some of you have troubles, and some of you have had to endure unbearable hardships over the years; some of you, in fact, have even been forced to listen to the last Meghan Trainor album.

What we’re trying to say, dear reader, is that life can be pretty hard sometimes. Yet, despite that, who said that it all has to be doom and gloom? Sure, the sun may have put its winter coat on and gone away for a holiday behind the clouds, and the entire country may have finally resigned itself to the fact that football, it seems, is likely not coming home any time in the next couple of years; but, that doesn’t mean that we can’t have nice things every now and then.

This one’s pretty flippin’ cool, if we do say so ourselves

And, as things go, they don’t get much nicer than the music of Irene SkylakakiNot only is she a supremely talented songwriter, but she also happens to have the voice of a bona-fide angel – oh, and what’s more, she also knows how to play the hell out of an acoustic guitar.

We’ve been fans of Irene‘s for quite some time now, and we’ve always wanted her to record one of our special Selfie Sessions for us – so, we’re beyond chuffed that she’s finally gone and done one for us. We’ve had string-laden Sessions, we’ve had seaside Sessions, and we’ve even had harp Sessions; but, we think we can safely say that this is the first Session we’ve had that was recorded in a jaw-droppingly gorgeous Greek garden. 🌞

It’s a beautiful video, it features a beautiful performance of Irene‘s new single The First Days Of Spring, and we think that you’re going to adore it – check it out below:
