She wasn’t half bad, in all honesty
Meet Emma Stevens. She’s a singer-songwriter from Surrey and she writes the kind of sweet ‘n’ tender love songs that would probably stick around and give you a cup of tea and a cuddle after you brought them back to your flat after a particularly messy trip to your favourite classy cocktail bar/dingy urban nightclub/other late-night establishments of choice.
She’s worth checking out if you get a minute
If you hadn’t heard of her before you started reading this article, then never fear: we hadn’t heard of her until a couple of weeks ago, either. What we found when we checked her out, though, was a songwriter of some serious merit, who comes packing the voice (and musical abilities) to match. After all, not only are her songs BBC Radio 2-approved slices of the kind of soft indie-folk that your Mum and Dad probably blasted the hell out of when you were a young ‘un, but she’s also got a voice that can most accurately be described as ‘absolutely flippin’ gorgeous’.
We stumbled across her when she supported pop-rock heroes The Feeling at Bristol’s O2 Academy a couple of weeks ago, and we thought that she was rather bloody delightful, thank you very much. Sure, Emma‘s set may have been short, but by God was it sweet; and, it convinced us that you’d be more than likely to kick yourselves if you ever passed up the chance to see her live the next time she rolls into your town.
So, dear reader, do make sure that you don’t miss her if she ever passes through your city: we can guarantee that you won’t regret it.
