We want you to know that we love him, you know that
We bloody adore Saint Raymond. If you haven’t heard of him, he’s a twenty-three-year-old singer-songwriter from Nottingham who has an irritating habit of writing precisely the kind of uber-infectious indie-pop songs that you’ll need to get surgically removed from your brain; and, if you have heard of him, then we’re certain that you’ll already know all about that.
This one’s gonna be a hit for you Indie kids
We’ll cut to the chase: we like Saint Raymond a lot, so we asked him to put together a playlist of his all-time favourite tunes, exclusively for the listening pleasure of the lovely readers of One on One. You can check out his full playlist at the bottom of this page – but, for now, here’s the man himself telling you a bit about what five or six of the tracks mean to him:
Shawn Mendes, Zedd – Lost in Japan – Remix
I can’t get enough of this tune at the moment, I’m a big Shawn Mendes fan, but this version is so good – that pre-chorus is the one! Playing this a lot on tour at the moment
The Kooks – Naive
‘This was the song that really kicked off me playing the guitar. I’d played a bit, but as soon as I heard that riff when I was young, I thought, ‘I need to learn how to play that’…
Oasis – Slide Away
‘Having older siblings ensured that I was brought up on Oasis, and I (luckily!) got to see them live when I was younger. The acoustic version of this, in particular, is my favourite – it’s a beautiful love song.
Bon Iver – Holocene
‘Possibly my favourite song of all time. I love Bon Iver and this track just sums up everything I love about him: the production and vocal is insanely beautiful.
Amber Run – I Found
‘I’ve known these boys for years, played a few shows with them, and can’t speak highly enough of them; oh, and this song tops it off for me. It’s amazing.
Daryl Hall & John Oakes – You Make My Dreams
‘I had to choose this tune as it’s become the song we play every time we’ve come off stage on tour! It’s an old-school classic sing-a-long song that never gets old.
