CHILDCARE Have Made You A Zen-As-Hell Playlist ‘To Get You Out Of Your Head and Into The Golden Zone’

Nobody likes September, do they?

The summer’s over, it’s raining, and the skies seem to be turning a slightly greyer shade of misery by the hour. Christmas is creeping up, complete with the imminent threat of a blown-out bank account and the prospect of spending another frostier-than-Jack dinner sat opposite the Mother-In-Law who never deemed you good enough to marry her little girl.

It’s okay, dear reader: we understand. We know how you feel, and we know that you need something to help you unwind if you’re ever going to make it through a month that even Green Day decided it was better to not bother sitting through.

Fortunately, we’ve got the perfect antidote for you.

We understand that if anything’s going to get you through these gloomy September nights, it’s music; and, what better soundtrack could there be than one that’s been lovingly curated by one of the best alt-indie bands in the country right now?

CHILDCARE are better known for their riotous, dystopian indie than they are for their chilled-out melancholy, but that doesn’t mean that they still don’t know how to soundtrack a wind-down. They’ve put together a special Zen Masters Arise playlist that’s been carefully designed to get you out of your head and into the golden zone. (You’re welcome).

You can find the band’s full playlist at the bottom of this page – but, for now, here’s a brief walk-through of the collection from CHILDCARE‘s very own Ed Cares:

Rare Silk – Storm

‘We used to have this to come on stage to – totally original, jungly, close harmony gloop.

Brian Biggs – Aeo 1

‘Follows on nicely from our jungly opener; let’s keep squelching through the jungle.

Tornado Wallace – Healing Feeling

‘Latin drum machine + breathy synths = sonic bliss machine.

Avalon Emerson – The Frontier (High Desert Synthapella)

‘There appears to be a global theme to this playlist. One for getting baked in the desert to.

Aphex Twin – #1

‘I’ve always been a big fan of Aphex Twin – I love the full-on mad stuff that makes you feel like your head is exploding but this one should go some way to putting it back together.

Sigur Ros – Eg Anda

‘I saw these guys three times on a tour once; the first time I cried, the second I was stoned and couldn’t stand still, and the third time I fell asleep.

Huerco S – A Sea of Love

‘Go on, take a dive in. Crackly, creaky ambiance to wash your brain out with.

Brian Eno – Surbahar Sleeping Music

Just in case you were getting too comfortable.
