We Went To See Hot Chip In Nottingham And We’re Still Not Over How Jaw-Droppingly Brilliant They Were

You think you know a band, don’t you?

You’ve heard their songs on the radio, skimmed through their music videos on YouTube, and seen their mugs plastered all over your Facebook feed whenever they’ve got a new album coming out. Heck, you’ve even tapped your foot along to a performance of their not-usually-your-kind-of-thing-but-actually-pretty-decent new single on some BBC music show a few months ago.

You are, for all intents and purposes, a fan. And that, dear reader, is precisely how we felt about Hot Chip until we went to see them live.

You see, a Hot Chip show isn’t like a regular indie-pop show.

It’s maximalist, and bombastic, and energetic, and about as infectious as that seasonal cold that you haven’t quite managed to shake off yet. It’s more like an eight-piece live techno rave than an indie gig, complete with gyrating band members and a light show that seems more in place in arenas than, say, Nottingham’s Rock City.

Fortunately for us, Rock City is precisely where we went to catch Hot Chip – and, what’s more, we couldn’t resist asking our own Elias Ruiz Monserrat to bring his camera along so we could share the entire experience with you lovely lot.

So, scroll down, dear reader, and prepare to be amazed by some top-notch snaps of one of the best live electronic bands we’ve ever had our humble minds blown by. 👇
