The resident Cheeky Chappie of British Indie is back with a banger.
We’re twenty-three days into the decade and we’ve already got a new Tom Grennan single. Maybe the next ten years aren’t going to be totally terrible?
It’s called This is the Place and it’s precisely the kind of thing any rising Indie superstar on his second album should be popping out. Specifically, it’s a sod-off massive pop song. Oh, and one with a bunch of guitars, synths, and deceptively slow-burning hooks layered on top of each other. It is, in a nutshell, bloody brilliant.
Apparently, if you ask him about the song, Tom Grennan says, ‘This song is about finding a place of complete calm and escaping utter chaos and carnage. My happy place, my go-to place! Whether it’s on my own or with the person I love. The song documents the kind of journey I go on to get there, and one that I would make any time of the day to reach a serene and cleansing state of mind.‘ Which is nice, isn’t it?
