Ladies and gentlemen, it’s crowd-funding time
You might not know the name Leif Podhajský, but we’re pretty sure that you’ll know his work. Over the last ten years, Leif’s designed some of the most jaw-droppingly gorgeous pieces of album artwork that you ever did see.
Bonobo‘s The North Borders? Yep, that was him. Foals‘ Holy Fire? Him too. Oh, and Lykke Li‘s Wounded Rhymes, London Grammar‘s Truth is a Beautiful Thing and Kelis‘s Food? Yes, dearest reader, they were all him too.
The press release assures us that, ‘Over the past decade, Leif Podhajský’s kaleidoscopic artwork has carved out a unique space for the resurgence of psychedelia, reinvented for contemporary culture through an exploration of the relationship between organic systems and the rapid growth of digital technologies.’ But, if you want the simple truth, Leif’s basically spent the last ten years designing the kind of album covers that you want to get printed on a poster and pinned to your wall.

Not bad, huh? Well, if you like his work, then we’ve got some good news for you.
A British publishing company called vol.co has ‘teamed up’ with Leif to create the first-ever retrospective book of his career. It’s called New Psychedelia, it features all of his best designs in glossy high-definition, and we think that it looks amazing.
They do, however, need some help to make it happen. Publishing books is, as a general rule, Expensive As Hell; but, publishing glossy hardback books in a limited-edition run? That, dear reader, costs what we can only describe as a small fortune.
So, they’ve done what any sensible small business would do: they’ve launched a crowd-funder. What’s more, they’re doing pretty well: they’ve already raised £15,000. The trouble is, they’re still about £10,000 short of their target. And that, dear reader, is where you come in.
Here’s what the book is (hopefully) going to look like:
