Bruce Fielder – or, Sigala – is a man of many talents.
He’s a pop producer extraordinaire – but, you already knew that, didn’t you? After all, you’d have to have been living under a rock to avoid Easy Love, Wish You Well, and/or Just Got Paid.
He’s also pretty nifty at this ol’ ‘networking’ thing. But, again – this isn’t news, is it? Heck, anyone who can convince John Newman, Ella Eyre, Becky Hill, and Nile freakin’ Rodgers to pop up on his debut album has clearly got at least a couple of clang-worthy names in his phone’s address book.
Oh, and he’s a closet Noughties dance music fanboy who honed his craft attempting – and, by his own admission, failing – to emulate the productions stylings of Pendulum, Chase & Status, and the like. You already knew that, too, though, didn’t you? Of course, you did. You read it in the interview with him that we published a few weeks ago.
There are, though, still some things we didn’t know about The Artisté Known As Sigala.
Until we popped along to his Cardiff show, that is. You see, as keen journalists, we cannot help but notice certain intricate details about any given live show that we happen to find ourselves stumbling and/or tumbling into. Those are, in no particular order, that:
1. He’s written more gargantuan pop hits than you and I have had hot dinners.
2. He really, really likes blowing his entire light show budget on shiny lasers and expensive-looking toys.
3. The entire crowd is guaranteed to lose their collective shit whenever he steps onto a stage
4. Seriously, WE CANNOT EMPHASISE ENOUGH HOW MANY BANGERS THIS MAN HAS PENNED
5. And, finally – Wish You Well is a Banger For The Ages and deserves to be recognised as such. THERE, WE SAID IT. (Also, why are we all still sleeping on Becky Hill? Jesus.)
