Meet SKAAR. She’s a Norwegian pop person who pens precisely the kind of pensive slow-bangers that’ll cause you to sit in a dark room for a few hours and have a long, hard think about your life.
Like this one, for instance. It’s called Higher Ground, it’s taken from her new EP, The Other Side of Waiting, and we think that it’s ace.
Now, if there’s one thing we know about great musicians, it’s that they’ve usually got pretty great taste in tunes themselves.
That’s why we were chuffed to bits when SKAAR agreed to put together a playlist for us of some of the songs that she’s been spinning on repeat over the last few months.

Coldplay – Life In Technicolor ii
‘One of my oldest musical memories is connected to this song. I was on a road trip with my sister and my brother-in-law one summer when I was very young. The sun was shining, we were surrounded by a beautiful landscape on the west coast of Norway, and this song comes on. This was the first time I remember music giving me a real feeling of euphoria.

Banks – Goddess
‘This song made me discover Banks. It gave me a strength I’d never felt before and made me look at songwriting with a whole new perspective. It also helped me to see what I’m worth, which is something that everyone needs a reminder of sometimes.

Still Woozy – Window
‘This song is an amaaazing song in the Still Woozy universe. He is my new favorite artist and I listen to him all the time. It’s just so chill, funky, fun, and cool. Love!
LonelyTwin – Electric Feel
‘LonelyTwin made this amazing cover of MGMT’s Electric Feel. She is such a talented writer and producer, and her voice is so beautiful. She is also one of the writers and producers on my EP! I listen a lot to her music and it inspires me a lot.
AURORA – Forgotten Love
‘AURORA is my favorite Norwegian artist and probably one of my biggest inspirations in life. Forgotten Love is an amazingly beautiful song that gives me such a euphoric feeling. Love it so much!
