Now guess who’s back with a brand new track?
Why, it’s only your new favourite pop star, Lauren Aquilina. You may remember her from such top-tier bangers as Psycho, Kicks, and Sinners – but now, she’s decided that the time is right to pop out a new single, Swap Places.
If you asked us, we’d tell you that it’s an alternative pop banger whose powerhouse chorus is juxtaposed by lyrics that focus on battling your imposter syndrome and trying to resist the urge to let your doubts and insecurities dictate your decisions.
If you asked Lauren, though, she’d probably say something like this:
“Swap Places is a song about insecurity, but mostly it’s a song about wanting to be nicer to yourself. I find that when I get into that dark hole of comparing myself to other people, it’s usually not because I actually would rather be someone else, but more that I just wish I had the confidence to be the best version of myself all the time. It’s a lyric that resonates a lot with me but also the most upbeat pop song I’ve put out for a while, so I’m excited for people to hear it.”
In the press release, we’re told that Swap Places not only ‘marks the start of a new chapter for Lauren Aquilina’, but that it’s also the first single to be taken from her as-yet-unannounced new EP. Which is quite exciting, really, isn’t it?
