Last Friday, Russell T Davies’ monumental 5-parter ‘It’s a Sin’ hit Channel 4.
Following a group of Queer friends living together in London, ‘It’s a Sin’ explores what life was like for LGBTQ+ people during the AIDs pandemic in the 1980s. Touching on themes of Thatcherism, homophobia, friendship, and sex. The series is a stark reminder that for many LGBTQ+ people friendship runs deeper than family.
‘It’s a Sin’ was beautifully cast, written, and soundtracked. We are sure that this series didn’t leave a dry eye in the room (we love you, Ritchie). So, to shake the blues, we’ve decided to make you a playlist of some of our favourite 80s Queer bangers.
Now, don your leg warmers, perm your hair, and grab your poppers.
Expect key changes throughout – although none will beat THAT key change in Belinda Carlisle’s ‘Heaven Is a Place on Earth’.
And if you’re still feeling down – RELAX, DON’T DO IT.
