Parisian alt-Jazz singer Cha:dy delivers a stripped-back rendition of her new single, ‘Lazy’, exclusively for One on One’s Selfie Sessions.
Meet Cha:dy. She’s an alternative Jazz singer from France and she writes the kind of soulful and mellow alternative jams that could – and should – soundtrack your Sunday mornings for the rest of the year.
Did you like that song? Well, we bloody hope you did.
That’s because we’ve only gone and convinced Cha:dy to record a special live version of that track, ‘Lazy‘, for One on One’s Selfie Sessions.
If you were to ask us to describe the song, we’d probably tell you that ‘Lazy’ is a funky neo-soul bop with angsty lyrics and the kind of deceptively catchy hook that you’ll find yourself whistling in your kitchen for the next week or so. If you asked Cha:dy, though, she’d probably tell you something like this:
“The hook came to me when I told someone how miserable I was feeling, and they answered me ‘Stop being lazy!’, which made me feel very misunderstood and inspired me to write this song. At the time, I thought it was just a phase and did not recognise those were the signs of a deeper unhappiness that I needed to do work on. I feel like it was important for me to write this song instead of something more poetic or romantic; just because it’s real and I think it will resonate with a lot of people.”
