Here’s Everything You Need To Know About Jordan Rakei’s New Album, ‘What We Call Life’

One on One favourite (and Kiwi superstar) Jordan Rakei announces the release of his fourth studio album, What We Call Life, out September 17th on Ninja Tune.

Everyone’s favourite Kiwi is back on the scene for the fourth full-length installment of his signature neo-soul and R&B-driven sound – and this time it’s personal.

Just months after he unveiled his edition of the ‘Late Night Tales’ series – which saw him compile an exclusive collection of some of the best electronic artists music has to offer – Rakei is back with the first single from the new album, What We Call Life.

It’s called ‘Family’, it was premiered on Annie Mac’s Radio 1 show, and you’re going to adore it.

.

In a new interview, Rakei shared how his exploration of the positive psychology movement motivated his decision to dig deep into his therapy sessions and tackle some subject matter that reaches his “vulnerability barrier”.

“I wanted to hit my vulnerability barrier and be really honest. It’s about my parents’ divorce in my mid-teens but still having love for them no matter what,” he explains.

.

To support the release, Rakei has announced a series of fourteen European shows in cities ranging from Berlin and Brighton to Stockholm and Bristol.

Luckily, there’s more than enough time to prep some dance moves and dust off those dancing shoes; the tour gets underway in Berlin on April 4th, 2022, and ends in London on the 26th, with tickets going on sale July 2nd, 2021.

We can’t wait – and Elton can’t wait, probably. So, until then, we’ll wait impatiently, counting down the days until we can dance again to the movin’ and groovin’ neo-soul sounds that we’ve come to know and love from Jordan Rakei.
