Costa Rican Composer Pablo Esquivel Has Made You A Playlist Of His Favourite Songs And Influences

Trust us when we say that you’re going to enjoy this one

Meet Pablo Esquiviel. He’s a Costa Rican multi-hyphenate whose (considerable) talents range span composition, piano playing, and looking rather dapper in press shots. On, and delivering Actual TED Talks.

.

Not too shabby, really, is he?

If you asked his PR company to tell you more about him, they’d probably say that ‘The music of Costa Rica is more associated with the exuberant rhythms of calypso and salsa – and certainly not with the minimalist neoclassicism of Northern Europe. Until now, that is: step forward Pablo Esquivel, a supremely talented classically trained young pianist and composer’.

If you were to ask us, however, we’d probably tell you that that Esquiviel is a genuinely exciting new talent, and one whose debut body of work we’ve been eagerly anticipating for some time.

Of course, if you know anything about One on One, you’ll know that we love nothing more than finding out what makes our favourite new artists tick. That’s why we were so chuffed when Pablo agreed to make us a playlist of his favourite songs (and some unexpected influences), exclusively for your listening pleasure.

So, what are you waiting for? Hit play, dear reader:
