You’ve got a new album out! Was it a good experience writing and recording it?
Yes – we decided to go with all analog recording and it really sounds great. The tunes are great and it was all recorded live – no overdubs!
You’re putting on your own festival, Beautiful Days – why should people go along?
They shouldn’t – it’s already sold out! Because it’s the best festival there is, pure and simple. Great lineup, great values and great people – what more do you want?
You’re also planning an acoustic tour for this year – is this something you’ve wanted to do for a while? Where do you find the time to do all of this?!
We have many strings to our bow, and this is one we enjoy often.
Who’s your ultimate icon and how have they influenced you?
Probably Neil Young – he writes some great songs.
What made you get into music?
A love of life, as music at its best touches this.
How would you describe your music for people who don’t know you?
Real songs with nothing to hide – they’re just folk, punk and heart.
What’s the best thing about playing live?
All those happy smiling faces.
Which song do you wish you had written?
It’s too hard to choose one… Okay, today it’s ‘Old Man’ By Neil Young.
What would you like to do before the end of 2012?
Get some sleep – I have a new baby!
What’s your weirdest music-related experience – it could be on tour, in the studio, a random encounter with a fan, anything!
When it’s good it’s all weird – that’s the point.
Describe yourself in three words?
Happy Go Lucky.
