This guy’s got great taste in tunes
Have you heard of Soft Fangs? He’s an American singer/songwriter, and he makes the kind of laid-back folk-rock music that Ryan Adams would be proud of producing. This is his new single – it’s called Elephant Girl, and we think that it’s rather good:
He’s not bad at all, is he
You can find his full playlist at the bottom of the page; but, for now, here’s Soft Fangs telling you a bit about why he chose a few of the songs on his playlist:
Nick Drake – From the Morning
The mood that Nick Drake is able to create with just an acoustic guitar has always been, and will continue to be, mesmerising.
Elliott Smith – Condor Ave
This song tells such a story; the narrative of the two characters interweaves so beautifully with the music.
Bob Dylan – Boots of Spanish Leather
Similar to Elliott, I’m entranced by Dylan’s narrative structure to his songs. You have to wait until the very end to find out what’s going to happen, and I like that.
Shel Silverstein – Fuck ‘em
Shel Silverstein is an absolute madman and this song is brilliant.
Beck – Hollow Log
One of the most carefree, lackadaisical songs I think I’ve ever heard. I love everything about it.
