PREMIERE: Songwriting Superstar RuthAnne’s New Single Is A Beautifully Heart-Wrenching Ballad

This is spine-tingly gorgeous and we think you’ll adore it

We can guarantee that you’ll have heard one of RuthAnne‘s songs before.

Her name may not ring a bell, but she’s spent the last decade penning songs for some of the pop world’s biggest stars. JoJo‘s Too Little Too Late? That was her. Niall Horan‘s Slow Hands? Yep, her too. Britney’s Work Bitch? Hell yeah, that was her. Oh, and you know In The Name Of Love by Martin Garrix? Yes, she wrote that one too.

She’s got a pretty hefty back catalogue, hasn’t she

So, it’s fair to say that RuthAnne is a pretty prolific woman. Somehow, though, she’s still found the time to write and record her own batch of solo songs. Not only that, but they’re actually really bloody good. Who’d’ve thought it, eh? A clearly talented songwriter cranking out some actually half-decent solo material. What a time to be alive.

That, dear reader, is precisely the reason why we’re so damn pleased to be exclusively premiering RuthAnne‘s new single, Take My Place, exclusively here on One on One. If you asked us, we’d tell you that it’s a gorgeous and stripped-back affair, complete with gut-wrenchingly honest lyrics and an achingly mournful melody; but, when we asked RuthAnne to describe it, she came back with something a little different:

Take My Place is probably the realest and most vulnerable lyric I’ve ever written. It was written at the time when I was stalking my ex’s Instagram, a few months after we broke up, and I discovered that he was seeing a model. So, I wrote Take My Place about all the questions that we ask ourselves when we see those pictures.’

Each to their own, apparently. Regardless of whether you choose to believe the words of us – the glorious overlords of One on One HQ – or, y’know, The Person Who Actually Wrote It, we’re just not sure that you’ll be able to help yourself from falling completely and utterly in love with this song. So, without further ado, it’s time for you to sit back, relax, and hit play on this beautiful slice of melancholy pop that goes by the name of Take My Place. Enjoy.
