GIG REVIEW: We Went To See Barns Courtney and The Hunna in Cardiff and they were both Bloody Amazing

We Could(n’t) Be happier about how this turned out

We love The Hunna and we love Barns Courtney – and, what’s more, we know that you do too. So, when we heard that they were heading out on a huge UK tour together, we couldn’t stop ourselves from rolling on down to their Cardiff show and scrawling down a few thoughts for you wonderful bunch.

Barns Courtney

Rock and roll’s resident wildman sure knows how to put on a show, huh? From the minute he bound onto the stage with a shake of his head, a flash of his Hollywood-handsome smile and the mild murmur of ‘is he on crack?’ from more than one member of the capacity crowd, to the moment he strode off in a haze of sweat, strained vocal cords and probable mild tinnitus, he was… Well, frankly, he was extraordinary. Mark our words, he’s a star in the making, and it won’t be long before you see him packing out venues ten times the size of Cardiff’s Tramshed.

The Hunna

God, we love The Hunna. Not only are they absolute charmers, but they’re also one of the few indie-rock bands around today who know how to pull one hell of a pop chorus out of the bag when it really matters. Between the likes of DareWe Could Be and Bonfire, they’ve already got enough bonafide anthems to propel them comfortably into the arena big leagues; and, by the time you throw in She’s CasualPiece By Piece and the as-yet-untitled new song that they debuted as tonight’s encore, then we think they might just be ready to make the jump into stadiums sooner rather than later.
