Do you love the idea of a music festival but hate the idea of having to wade through foot-deep puddles of mud to get from stage to stage?
If so, then the idea of the one-day city festival might just appeal to you. It’s basically the same as a normal music festival, but all the stages are in different venues across the length and breadth of its host city. Sounds good, eh?
Well, if the thought of spending a day strolling around the city center and watching a shed-load of excellent bands excites you, then we think you’re going to be a big fan of this festival.
It’s called Ritual Union, and it’s the debut Bristol offering from a team that’s spent the last few years putting on a series of stellar one-dayers in Oxford.
Never heard of them? Well, that’s not a problem. After all, you’re not going to be moaning about the lack of a recognisable local brand name once you cast your eye over the line-up they’ve assembled for this one. Not only have they managed to lock in Boy Azooga, Squid, Talk Show, and Willie J Healey, but they’ve also managed to secure a headline set from Marika bleedin’ Hackman. That, dear reader, is what we call ‘impressive’.
The best part? The entire festival’s taking place at a handful of venues across one street – Nelson Street, to be precise – in Bristol city centre. So, you’re getting a day of awesome music, carefully curated by one of the most respected one-day festival teams in the UK, and you never have to walk more than a few hundred feet to get from one stage to the next.
We don’t know about you, but that sounds like the dream to us. We’ll see you – and, probably, Big Jeff – down the front.
