Plymouth Indie Boys The Native Have Recorded A Quarantine Selfie Session And You Need To Check It Out

This lockdown lark is a little bit dull, isn’t it?

Of course, we agree that it’s entirely necessary; but, we think it’s fair to say that it’s also a little bit draining. We’re social beings here at One on One HQ, and yet we’ve suddenly found ourselves being unable to go out for anything other than a quick jog and a bottle of milk; all of our meticulously-laid festival plans for this Spring and Summer have been canned; and there are only so many living room live streams one can realistically consume before you decide that you’d quite like to take whoever came up with the concept of ‘buffering’ and give them a long, stern talking to about the error of their ways.

And, most importantly, we can’t even remember the last time we had a cheeky pint (or two) on a Saturday afternoon. Oh, what we wouldn’t give to be parked in a beer garden right about now. Remember beer gardens? Oh, and the pub? And – this one’s a long shot – social contact?

We were living in a golden age, dear reader, and yet we’ll be damned if any of us realised.

There is one thing we can do to pass the time, though.

No, it’s not to binge-watch Tiger King until we pass out in an early-morning haze of square eyes and Dorito’s crumbs. It’s to consume as much new music as we can possibly get our no-longer-quite-as-grubby-as-they-used-to-be mitts on. Admittedly, not all of this is going to be excellent; but, sometimes, we might just stumble across something great.

Like this lot, for instance. They’re called The Native, they’re a indie-rock five-piece from Plymouth, and they make precisely the kind of instantaneous guitar music that the Arctic Monkeys would still be writing if Alex Turner had never dropped acid. We think that they’re absolutely fantastic and we’re pretty sure that you will too.

We like them so much, in fact, that we couldn’t resist asking if they’d be up for recording a Selfie Session for us – and, like the lovely lads they are, they obliged. Check it out:
