The New Declan McKenna Single Is A Defiant Indie-Glam Stomper With A Juggernaut Of A Chorus

Is it too early for us to claim this as our Song of the Year?

In case you hadn’t noticed, Declan McKenna has made a habit of cranking out razor-sharp indie bops at a rate that makes most of his contemporaries look lazy. Don’t believe us? Well, listen to Brazil, Paracetamol, Humongous, and Beautiful Faces, and then tell us we’re wrong. Go on, we dare you.

His latest effort is called The Key to Life on Earth and it is, unsurprisingly, Very Good Indeed. ‘But what does it sound like?!‘, we hear you cry?

Well, take a pinch of mid-Noughties angst, throw in a chorus the size of a skyscraper, and plonk some lyrics about suburban xenophobia on top, and you’re pretty much there. Oh, and then convince Alex Lawther from The End of the F**ing World to play your evil double in the video. Simple, eh?

So, if you like the sound of that, check out the official video for The Key to Life on Earth by Declan McKenna:
