Ireland’s LAOISE delivers a luscious acoustic rendition of her playful and melodic new single, ‘Gravy‘.
Are you in the mood for some sugar-sweet Irish pop music? If so, you’ve come to the right place.
LAOISE is a singer-songwriter from Galway. She grew up surrounded by traditional Irish folk songs, but now makes stirring, melodic, and atmospheric pop tunes. That, dear reader, is what we call a glow-up.
She’s gearing up to release her new EP, Healthy, on February 26th, and she’s announced its arrival with the release of her new single, ‘Gravy’. If you ask us, we’d tell you that it’s an infectious yet heartfelt pop song that you’ll almost certainly want to spin on repeat after your first listen. But why bother asking us when you could just get LAOISE to tell you about it instead?
“I used to find it difficult to write songs about loving someone – unless it was unrequited, of course. I guess I used to think it was a little cheesy, but I think that was just an excuse to circumvent courage; it’s so much easier to write a song about someone who’s hurt you because they’ve already hurt you. It’s harder to write a song about loving someone so much that they still have the power to hurt you. That’s why it was so cathartic to give in to that feeling and shout it out in the chorus anyway.”
