Rock Royalty Mallory Knox Have Made You A Playlist Of Their Favourite Songs (And It’s Absolutely Epic)

You remember Mallory Knox, don’t you?

Four guys, lots of hair, ridiculously good rock music…? No, not them. Oh, come on. Surely you know this song? It is, after all, a bit of a banger.

Yeah, we thought you would.

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: if we’ve learned one thing over the years, it’s that people who write great songs tend to have pretty good taste in tunes themselves. That’s why, when we found out that Mallory Knox were going to be returning with a brand-new album and massive UK tour, we couldn’t resist asking frontman Sam Douglas to put together a playlist of his favourite tracks for us.

You can find Sam‘s full playlist at the bottom of this page – but, for now, here are a few words from the man himself about why he chose a handful of the tracks on his list:

Box Car Racer – Cat Like Thief

‘I think this record is what made me want to write music itself. One of the most gorgeous choruses of all time and Tim Armstrong‘s verses add something so different to the overall sound of the song.

Dead Pretties – Confidence

‘These guys were the first new band – or new music in general – that I’ve liked in so, so long. Turns out they’ve broken up, so that was disappointing. Hell of a tune, though.

Gazelle – Guilt Trip Gun

‘Again, one of the very few new bands I’ve gotten into. I heard this song on Soccer AM and then asked them to support us in London, which they did; so, it was cool for me to be able to watch them play this live. Football brings us all together, eh?

The Killers – Shot At The Night

‘Probably the best band in the world right now and this is my personal favourite they’ve ever done. The chorus is undeniable.

The 1975 – Chocolate

‘Without question, the best pop song of the last 20 years. Maybe ever.

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds – Do The Damage

‘This song was a big inspiration for me when writing the new album. Once I heard this, I knew this was something I’d like to try and write myself. Naturally, I failed; this song still beats everything on our new record…
